>>June 7th, 2000, Windsor -- Nine political protestors are still being jailed
>>in Windsor, after being arrested with trumpted up charges during the
>>protests of the Organization of American States (OAS) General Assembly
>>meetings in Windsor, Ont.
>>
>>An urgent request by the Legal Committee of the Coalition to Shutdown the

>>People can also contact the Chief of Police (519-255-6630), MP and Deputy
>>Prime Minister Herb Gray (519-257-6817) and Major Hurst (519-255-6315) to
>>demand the release of all nine political prisoners.
>>
>>Targeted for their political beliefs, the nine protestors have been singled
>>by police as integral key players in the organization of the shutdown.
>>Seven protestors have been charged with mischief, one with assault police
>>and another with charges relating to immigration.
>>
>>One woman protestor has allegedly been sexually and physically assaulted at
>>the hands of the authorities. She is one of the nine who has still not
>>been released. Most of the other protestors have also reported mistreatment

>>
>>All bail hearings are closed; no outside spectators are being allowed to

>>The Legal Committee is urgently requesting that calls be made to the above

>>
>>1) Demand that all Windsor political prisoners be released.
>>2) Political persecution must be stopped.
>>3) Demand that the allegations of sexual and physical abuse be immediately
