Subject	globe_l: "Glas javnosti" equipment confiscated

"Danas" fined yet again
BELGRADE,
 - Independent daily "Danas" was last night fined 220,000
dinars and its director Dusan Mitrovic 80,000 for breech of the Public
Information Act. The charges were brought by the director of the Serbian
Health Insurance Bureau, Tomislav Jankovic in connection with an article
published in the daily on February 15 regarding the recently-announced deal
for pharmaceutical imports from China. Jankovic alleged that the article was
published with the intention of discrediting the Health Insurance Bureau.


"Glas javnosti" equipment confiscated
BELGRADE,
- Three Belgrade Commercial Court sheriffs accompanied by
several police officers entered the premises of Belgrade daily Glas Javnosti
last night confiscating essential equipment. The daily stated today that
this, along with several previous incidents of a similar nature, were acts
whose sole aim was to intimidate employees of the independent media.

The Association of Serbian Independent Journalists (NUNS) and the Serbian
opposition today condemned the latest attacks on independent dailies "Glas
javnosti" and "Danas".
